Water, water everywhere, but is it safe to drink? Find out the answer to this question and much more in this study of water.

For this assignment you are asked to use a variety of resources. Use the books and encyclopedias in the library collection. Be sure to make use of the Science encyclopedias. This site will give you access to online magazines and journals, some links to get you started, and some search hints. Remember to consider the authority of the information that you find. Collect information for your bibliography as you go. For Internet sites, start with the resources listed below. The sites are arranged in the same order as on your handout. For additional information try a Google search.

Journals and Magazines
• Research reminder: Databases are indexes. Search them as you would a library catalogue. If you get too many hits, select the "Refine Search" option in EBSCO. From the Library Catalogue Database Tab select EBSCO.
• Vancouver Public Library Databases
  Select EBSCO and follow the login instructions. You will need your public library card for remote access.

  The US Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for the Mississippi River. This site has extensive information on "Environmental River Engineering." You will find more information about the Corps work at the US Army Corps of Engineers home page. Use the index on the left.

• The Nature of Water Power
  Although designed for a slightly younger audience, this site has excellent diagrams and information. Be sure to look at the Tours section.

• Water Quality Information Center
  This site provides access to information gathered by the US Department of Agriculture.

  This site provides you with information about water quality in Canada.
• BIEAP/FREMP
  The Burrard Inlet Environmental Action Program and the Fraser River Estuary Management Program are charged with monitoring and maintaining the health of the river and the inlet.
