CANADIAN ENTREPRENEURS
- Resources for this assignment will be found in
EBSCO, the online news index,
as well as on the Internet. Infomart, the Canadian Newspaper Index, and CPI Q will also be useful. Current Biography and encyclopedias may also have information.
- Be sure to cite your sources.
- For the magazine articles you will need: The author. The title of the Article. The title of the magazine.The exact date, the page or pages.
- For web sites you will need: The author (person or persons responsible for the content of the page). The title of the web page. The title of the web site. The copyright date. <The address - URL>.
SEARCH TIPS
- When using EBSCO, be sure to limit your search to full text
articles by clicking the appropriate box.
- Infotrac has excellent help sections on each page - use this feature!
- Infotrac is an index, therefore you must enter the last name first. (Like the library catalogue, an encyclopedia index, or a phone book)
- If you do not have money to print, you may copy and paste articles into MS Word and save them to a disk.
- To print an article - Use the PRINT feature within the page. Do NOT print using the Explorer command.
- Use quotation marks to search for phrases in a Search Engine. Names are entered in natural order - first name first.

Search Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for a list of Canadian entrepreneurs.
See if your entrepreneur has made the
Rich List. Select the list from the index on the left of the screen or type "rich list" in the search box.
- Canada's Billionaires Look for the list of Canada's billionaires in this article.
Once you have the list look at the Forbes Site to get some information. The rankings are done by wealth, so you may have to go down a few pages to find the person or family that you are interested in.
- Nat Bailey: Why do we have Nat Bailey Stadium? Consider this the next time that you enjoy a Whitespot burger.

- Conrad Black: You will find many articles on this publishing and newspaper mogul in
Infotrac as well as many sites on the Internet. If you Ask Jeeves Who is Conrad Black? you will find some useful sites.The 1992 edition of Current Biography also has an article on Black.
- Armand Bombardier: Bombardier was a great inventor and entrepreneur. Look for information on snow, water, rails, and air. The library has some books on Bombardier.

- The Bronfman Family:You may wish to look at an indivual member of the family. Look at this Harvard site for an introduction to the family. Use Google to find out more about Charles and Saidye Bronfman.
- Michael Budman and Don Green: Find out a little about these men on the CBC's
Life and Times Page. If you are really keen, you can borrow this video from VPL Central Branch. The video is called The Roots Boys.
